Dear Praying Friends,
First of all, we want to thank you for your prayers on our behalf through all of this with Robin’s leg and foot. The Lord gave us a good last follow-up visit with the doctor there in San Pedro Sula last Wednesday, and all of Robin’s bloodwork came back with good results.
We flew into the US on Thursday, the 16th, and made it to our home church in Greenville, SC around midnight that night. Robin did well with the travel, thanks to having a wheelchair available to get us through the airports. We were able to rest on Friday, our daughter, Lydia came to visit from NC on Saturday, and we were able to go to our home church both services on Sunday. Robin was able to attend church, walking with a cane, and having a footstool to prop her foot up on during the services. We praise the Lord for how much better she is doing. She has little to no pain, just occasional times where the nerves in her foot or leg start tingling or a quick shooting pain. They have her on medicine to help with this neuropathy, and hopefully as the leg heals completely it will go away.
On Monday, we had our first visit with a doctor here in the US. He was very pleased with how her leg looked and was able to remove the stitch from one of the incisions and said the other stitch should hopefully be able to be removed next week. We should not have to go to a wound care center, based on how well the wounds are healing and how fast they are closing up. We will continue to clean them every other day and follow up with him each week until they are healed. Her blood sugar has stayed down since she got out of the hospital, and her A1C was back down to normal, so he said she could stop taking the blood sugar medication and continue with the changes to her diet and monitoring it closely. We are praying with the diet changes it will stay in the normal range. Her blood pressure has also been lower than normal, so he said for her to halve her dosage of that and continue to monitor it as well. We praise the Lord again for helping in these aspects of her health.
We are not planning to be out traveling in meetings, but mostly staying close to home this trip, so that she can fully recover. While she is able to get around the house without any help, and is just using a cane for stability when we go out anywhere, she is still supposed to keep the foot elevated as much as possible throughout the day. We appreciate your continued prayers for us and we are so grateful for the Lord’s protection and guidance and provision during these past few weeks. Thank you also to all those who have given towards the medical expenses…the Lord has truly shown Himself faithful in providing through His people and we do not take that for granted. Thank you again for your prayers for us.
